16/01/10 - Workers pitch in
THE Employees of Fiji Water via the FIJI Water Foundation presented about $2000 from its $52,000 donation set aside for the needy in society to help buy stationery for underprivileged students.
The money received by Save the Children chief executive Chandra Shekar will be used to buy exercise books and other stationery for primary and secondary school students under the Kaila! Back to School Drive.
Mr Shekar said the donation was very timely.
"We are working on assisting people to get back to school and the Fiji Water Foundation has blessed us with this donation," he said.
"This money will be utilised under the Kaila! Back to School Drive," Mr Shekhar said.
"Any donation coming in is always welcomed."
Mr Shekar said it was a big help not only to Save the Children but to other charitable organisations.
"This is an initiative of all the employees of Fiji Water and we are very grateful to them."
Mr Shekar believes all organisations in Fiji must take their cue from Fiji Water and give generously to those who need it.
Fiji Water Foundation manager Molly Powers said they were helping 22 charities and social welfare organisations including Dilkusha Girls Home.
